How we do things
Actually, here’s how we don’t do things.
We don’t have packages. Selling you a 5 or 10 or 20 page website package does you and us a disservice. Packages like that do nothing to address your goals and objectives and they rely on you, the client, to know exactly what you need. That’s a huge responsibility for a small business owner with no experience building websites.
Back to how we do things…
It’s all about you
We listen to you. We ask questions. Building a website is a collaborative effort. We ask you to spend some time thinking about your business and it’s goals, what’s working and not working, what your customers want, what your competitors are doing etc. You can read more about what we do in our planning stage over here.
We work with you to plan what you want to achieve, why it’s important and strategise how you’re going to achieve it – tailoring a solution that suits your needs and your budget.
But it’s not all up to you
We don’t expect our clients to know what what they need to put on their websites. Our knowledge comes from years of experience, learning from our mistakes and our colleagues, and we’re here to help.
Coming up with engaging content is tricky. We know you hold the keys to your content and we’re all about helping you unlock the box. We’ll work with you to flesh all your thoughts out into engaging page copy and suggest suitable supporting images too.
We can also recommend an SEO copywriter if you would like to leave the text to someone who writes web copy day in day out (recommended if your budget allows it) and have access to stock image libraries and photographers if you need to gather extra images.
Building your website
We build websites that not only look great but are easy to navigate, solid and logical in structure and lead visitors on the path to conversion. Your site will look good, load fast and function well on all devices including computers, tablets and mobiles. We pay attention to web standards and are constantly evolving our toolkits to incorporate new trends and technologies.
We also pay attention to your offline workflows – your invoicing and accounting processes, your process for taking phone orders and anything else that is an integral part of your business – so that your online workflow integrates as seamlessly as possible.
We use the WordPress framework. There are a number of reasons for that (apart from the fact that we absolutely love it) but here’s why it’s the best choice for your website.
- WordPress is easy to use. You will be able to quickly and easily manage your website content ongoing.
- WordPress is open source. That means that there’s a huge community of developers out there improving the platform every day. And that benefits everyone.
Your project will be in good hands
We have processes that we follow and tools that we use to manage all aspects of each project – communication, planning, content gathering, design changes and approvals, bug tracking, task assignment, launch checklists, ongoing changes and more. This ensures we can keep you informed of where we’re at, what we need from you to move to the next stage and whether the timeline and budget are on track.
We’ll often suggest breaking a project down into smaller stages if you don’t have enough in the budget for the whole shebang right away. That’s also a really good way of growing a website organically, based on customer feedback and other success indicators.
It doesn’t end with the launch
One of the most important aspects of our relationship with you is making sure your site continues to grow and work for you for years to come. Like any investment, a website needs ongoing maintenance to perform at it’s best. It also needs to grow and evolve as your business grows and evolves. Your goals will almost certainly change over time and having us as a partner means your website won’t be left behind.
